This story at AlterNet: Blue Jean Blues has a point. But I have to say, if the author is in her 40s and can swing the "classic" fit, she's got fewer issues than, say, an 18 year old who fits in the "loose" jeans the way one is supposed to fit into "classic" jeans. The author writes of "normal" thighs. What, exactly, are those? What
s the importance of saying that she and other women in or nearing their 40s are "hotties" who have stayed in shape? So are the ug-os who didn't not entitled to a pair of comfy heans that fit?

Pfffffttttt, This article was going somewhere, and then it took a wrong turn and hit a dead end.

holy crap! the blogger interface is different! This is the forst post I've written using IE in, like, months (because I have discovered the wonderfulness that is Mozilla). Huh. I'll have to explore later on, but this looks pretty rockin'! Lots of buttons and scrollboxes and . . . and . . .

funny, you know, I was thinking as I logged in that I really, really was in need of a new blog (non-blogger blog, thanx) with a new template and a bit more spunk. Seems there's always something keeping me here at good ol' blogger!

So, I'm doing really well on this posting more regularly thing, right? But I'm frantlcally trying to make my life catch up with itself. At that point I might be able to take a deep breath and enjoy the summer a bit.

I very strongly dislike coding. After this past year, I hope I never have to code anything else ever again.

I've got to go get back to work so that i don't die of overwhelming guilt when I head to Old Chicago in a few hours (mmmm turkeyburger! still trying to decide if I am going to have a beer: I have been on a pretty no-nonsense diet for the challenge walk training, and that's been on the no-no list). I'm so good at painting myself into the insanely tight little corners (must do 5,000,000,000 things by 8 am tomorrow), but I'm also a decent escape artist. Thanks be for that, right?

(re)emergence

um, hi there. long time, no blog. i know. i'm sorry. so sorry that i am even using all lowercase (well, that and 'shift' seems like an extra step - totally not necessary).

my grandfather died a few weeks ago. i haven't had to deal with death since elementary school, and let's just say i didn't deal with it particularly well in this instance. my grandfather was a pretty cool person, but had been ill for some time. He was a judge, a very intelligent man, and a wonderful, caring and really fun grandfather.

i've actually got a ton more to write (Eric's new job, the possibility of moving, finally actually registering for the MS Challenge Walk, but it's getting a bit late (we're becoming morning people, apparently, since Eric's got to be at work at 8:30 these days). i've got to get up early and continue with the newly-established morning routine: yoga and a brisk training walk. no coffee until these are completed . . . and that's enough of a bribe (can you bribe yourself??) to make me walk a few miles at 7:30 or 8 am.

By the way, you can get more info on the challenge walk here. I'm officially registered and will officially begin my fundraising efforts soon! Look for a link to my e-pledge page in the near future (as soon as the MS Society notifies me that it's ready . . . ).

In the meantime, if you'd like to help me get a jump on the daunting task of raising a minimum of $1,500.00 (I think more is possible, we'll see . . . ), drop me a line.

Along those lines, for those with the number, um, don't call the cell for right now. It's acting weird to begin with and I have completely mislaid the charger, to top it all off. Grrrrrrrrr!

Good to be back. See y'all soon!
